Sarpy County Soccer League Aligns with USSSA Alliance League to Create a Club Focused Structure in Nebraska

OMAHA, NEB.   Two youth soccer leagues have agreed to a strategic partnership starting this spring, giving local soccer clubs and teams consistency along with added benefits. These benefits include providing an increase at the recreational base, the point of entry for young children and their families. “Recreational soccer is the starting point of every player who steps on the field. From our current female World Champions, to a six-year-old interested in playing soccer for the first time, everyone starts at the same place.” Stated David Clements, President of Sarpy County Soccer Association.

The partnership will see Alliance League and their five member organizations support recreational soccer. Their start up and recreational teams will enter Sarpy County for the 2020 Spring Season. “For the last year, we have been looking at creating a recreational division within the Alliance. In speaking with Sarpy County, it became instantly obvious that both our philosophy’s and mindsets matched. Our job as soccer leaders is not to recreate the wheel when we see an organization like Sarpy County already doing a fantastic job” said an Alliance League Member.

You will see for the first time in the State of Nebraska, two leagues operate unrestricted, allowing all U.S. Soccer Organizational Members to register. “Sarpy County and Alliance League have just taken a major step in changing the soccer culture in Nebraska” Craig Scriven, Vice President of USSSA said. “If we’re going to do what is best for soccer and our young players, we must decrease barriers between organizations and provide a service to the children and game. This partnership achieves just that.”

One of the key aspects of the partnership will be no added cost to any team who wish to compete. Sarpy County will keep the same registration fee as they offered in the fall and the Alliance League continues to operate with a competitive registration fee, which fall in line with current Sarpy League fees.

Team increase in recreational soccer will just be one benefit seen immediately. Additionally, improvements include; league crossover games available for teams, sharing of facilities, coaching education - licensing, player and parent education – pathway, referee mentoring, and access to Alliance Festival Weekend.
